Fishing

Horseshoe Lake is a clear, spring-fed lake and is home to some excellent fishing. The lake holds sunfish, crappies, largemouth bass, northern pike, and walleye. It is 100 acres in size and is a basin type lake with good shoreline structure and weed growth to hold a lot of fish. The middle of the lake averages around 22 feet deep with the deepest spot being about 30 feet deep.

The lake is small enough that the 14' aluminum boat we provide free of charge with each cabin is sufficient for fishing up to 3 or 4 people.  We also have motors for rent and a pontoon with a canopy for larger groups.  The smaller size of the lake really pays off for the ease of learning the "hot spots" and during windy days when you would be blown off of most area lakes.  Even on the windiest days, you can find calm spots and good fishing on Horseshoe Lake.

To ensure the contiuation of good fishing we strongly encourage the practice of "Catch and Release" on ALL Large Mouth Bass, Northern Pike over three pounds, and Walleyes over two pounds, unless, of course, you are going to mount your trophy. For meals of fish, you will want to keep Pan Fish and Northern under three pounds.
